Barnsley Baptist Church
We have a congregation which is diverse as far as age, background and nationality and which is focused on welcoming all people to its worship services and other events and encouraging them to become part of the fellowship. We encourage members of the fellowship to employ their God-given gifts and talents in contributing to the ministry of the church.
Andrew Keay was called in November 2023 by the church to be its minister. Andrew has been a pastor of an Australian church and been heavily involved in a lay capacity in several churches. He studied theology in the United States at Dallas Theological Seminary and Denver Seminary and holds a Master of Divinity degree and a doctorate from the University of Queensland. He was a professor at the University of Leeds for many years before accepting the call to the church. He is a fervent advocate of expository preaching and teaching and committed to all aspects of pastoral ministry.
In a Baptist Church every member is encouraged to be involved and use their gifts. The Church Members' Meeting appoints the minister and a group of deacons to take responsibility for day-to-day spiritual and practical leadership of the church. The deacons have different roles and responsibilities in relation to the overall ministry of the church. All church leaders have undergone Disclosure and Barring Service checks and have engaged in safeguarding training
